Experimental Psychology task programming - C .NET Java
We have a computer task that we use in psychology experiments that was originally programmed in matlab. While this worked fine in our own lab, we are seeking to develop an easily distributable version of the the task that can be shared with other research groups. The reprogrammed version can be in any language, provided it is easy to distribute across different platforms (Windows/Mac; 32 vs 64-bit, etc.) and does not compromise accuracy of data collection (e.g., subject reaction times). As part of the reprogramming effort, we would seek to improve the current GUI. To give a short summary of the design of the task, it is a multi-trial "game" of sorts, in which participants are asked on each trial to choose between completing a higher effort and lower effort task in order to obtain varying levels of monetary rewards. Level of effort reflects the number of button presses on a standard keyboard that need to be completed in certain amount of time using a particular finger (e.g., index vs. pinky). Subjects are always eligible to earn more money for the higher effort choice, though the amount varies each trial. The task needs to record subject choices, reaction times, button-pressing rate, etc. More specific design requirements will be provided post-award. The task was originally programmed in matlab using the psychtoolbox. Some familiarity with matlab would be a plus. Desired Skills: C .NET Java Keywords: Software Application, C, Java, .NET
