BI Developer (Cognos,SAS,DataAnalsys),Albany Albany, NY Role: BI Developer / Analyst Job Location: Albany, NY Start Date: ASAP Email: hr@bricklogix.com Description As a member of the Business Intelligence Competency Center (BICC), the Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer primary responsibilities are to provide functional analysis and requirements, delivery and testing for enterprise analytics and reporting. They are also responsible for leading and facilitating groups across all levels of the organization to deliver valued outcomes. Outcomes include improved analytics, adoption of improved methodologies, fundamental understanding of how to use Business Analytics to drive business decisions and implement sound business solutions. This position reports to the Manager of Business Intelligence. The Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer will promote and evangelize the capabilities of the corporate Business Intelligence (BI) platform and work closely with other areas with an Enterprise focus to enhance and grow the BI platform while aligning with the business strategy. The Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer will operate as the functional liaison with the business and will perform root cause analysis and resolution, benchmark analysis, and will conduct and lead proactive working sessions to achieve desired business outcomes. The BI Analyst/Developer appropriately documents and develops BI processes and follows up on these processes to ensure completeness, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. The Analyst/Developer will be proactive in their work, resolve problems, and provide support for on call duties. This involves rotations for 24x7 coverage for critical production issues. Responsibilities • Conduct and lead analysis/requirement sessions to improve their access to information and advocate on their behalf to improve and evolve the BI tools and enterprise information assets. • Define, develop, test and deliver key analytical reporting and information to assist executives, managers and key stakeholders in delivering actionable information. • Provide day to day knowledge and support to lead business areas in regards to appropriate use of Enterprises BI tools, data and analytics. • Understand and ensure the measures and metrics required by the business are consistent across the enterprise. • Establish and execute training programs focused on analytical skills and BI Tools. • Extend BI capabilities to the organization via, the intranet, user groups, and hands on analytical sessions, training and other vehicles as deemed appropriate. • Develop and validate reports and BI processes based on requirements solicited from various business entities. This includes development of underlying Cognos Frameworks, Metadata, Cubes and administration of such objects. • Drive consistent use of BI methodologies across the organization. . • Provide analytical expertise in health care concepts such as utilization, membership or employer group reporting. • Create and execute in-depth unit testing plans. Requirements • Experience with BI tools (Cognos and/or SAS preferred) • Strong SQL skills required • Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills are required especially leading large meetings to conclusion. • Experienced with a formal System Development Life Cycle preferred. • Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities and ability to motivate individuals at all levels of the organization. • Proficient in executive level presentations and effective at delivering directed messages. Experience • Minimum of 5 years experience in leading, developing and supporting Business Intelligence projects or quality improvement initiatives required. • Minimum of 5 years analytical and/or data analysis experience that includes but not limited to: querying structured data sets, evaluation of business process and problems, feasibility studies, preparing detailed business requirements, supporting end users and system testing required. • Minimum of 3 years experience in one of the following: Cognos, Crystal Reports, Business Objects or SAP products preferred. • Experience in the health care or managed care industry preferred. • IBM Certified Solution Expert –Cognos BI, preferred. Education • Bachelors Degree in Informatics, Statistics, Finance, Health Care, Computer Science or related field, required or 7-10 years demonstrated in-depth experience and knowledge in analytics, analysis, or related field or area maybe substituted for a degree. • Advanced degree in analytics preferred. • Professional certificate in analytics or use of advanced BI tools preferred.
