1. Operate Omniback Tape backup system to create backups for Oracle Databases and UNIX root directory. Maintain tape library and coordinate off-site tape retention. 2. Monitor UNIX server and EMC Disk array for hardware and operating system problems and make the first call for vendor support. 3. Monitor UNIX file systems and setup delete scripts 4. Manage UNIX processes and kill run away tasks 5. Make sure that the Oracle databases backup without errors and come up cleanly. 6. Monitor and kill run away Oracle concurrent requests 7. Administer printers and print requests 8. Schedule daily, weekly and monthly Oracle concurrent request and monitor results 9. Add new users to Oracle and remove those who have left the company. Adjust user responsibilities within Oracle Applications. 10. Deal with physical printers. 11. Serve as primary support for Oracle users 12. Monitor Oracle tablespaces and tables for disk space or extent issues. 13. Maintain system records for audits 14. Be on call for system or facility problems (e.g. power outages etc.) 15. Serve as program librarian for updated Oracle application programs 16. Manage Phone System, including setup new phones, relocate phones, call in hardware problems to vendor, and call in line problems to carrier. 17. Prepare and maintain system documentation and share knowledge ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: · Supports the two Oracle database instances and Enterprise Resource Planning systems that comprise the major applications running on this hardware. · Provides support to ensure smooth operation of the HP-UX operating system running on an HP rp7410 server. · Monitors operating system performance and disk space usage · Manages Oracle databases for table locks and table spaces problems · Deals with Oracle Application concurrent manager problems and schedule jobs · Manages tape backup systems · Adds and removes users and administer Oracle Applications security · Adds and removes printers and PCs and deal with problems on those devices · Assists system users · Perform other duties as assigned INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: · IT Director and staff · All Unix/Oracle system users · Major hardware/software suppliers, such as HP and EMC EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: · Technical degree preferred · 5+ years related experience · General background in computer operations · Knowledge of UNIX systems administration, including shell script programming · Knowledge of basic Oracle database operation, with an emphasis on disk space usage and backup/recovery procedures · Experience with Oracle Applications system administration, including security, concurrent request management, and peripheral support PERSONAL TRAIT PROFILE: · Strong problem solving ability · Good inter-personal skills · Detail oriented · Self-starter · Organized · Ability to multi-task · Adaptable LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information and technical procedures Ability to write general business correspondence Ability to effectively present general information and respond to questions from customers (internally and externally)
