Project Manager - PMO Experience
Kforce is seeking a Project Manager with PMO experience for a Pleasanton, California client. This position exists to provide leadership and facilitation in the oversight, guidance, and resolution of activities and/or issues of cross-program scope and supports these activities to successful conclusions within the Program. The primary emphasis is on ensuring that the Delivery Teams operate with and report clear and consistent project data across all of their planning and tracking tools. This role will be responsible for facilitation of meetings; as well as managing and preparing for program management meetings for different audiences which span Program Sponsors, Project Managers, and Technical Practitioners as the subject matter warrants. The incumbent routinely and proactively represents the program in communications with program direct reports and external program constituents. He/she will play a proactive role in influencing IT resources through thought leadership and tactical skills coaching. He/she may play a proactive role in collaborating with Business Resources to ensure a tight integration across Business and IT activities where required. Functions: Provide project leadership to motivate project team members, set achievable objectives, maintain a positive outlook, take responsibility, make decisions and provide constructive feedback Build, track, and monitor project plan(s) using either MS Project or NIKU Workbench to ensure that the project is on schedule and budget and that it remains so Ensure project data is accurate and available for review by management and ensure that management is proactively informed of potential problems and risks so that they can be mitigated or resolved before they become insurmountable which routinely requires detailed project data reviews and work with individual Project Managers to improve their project data and use of multiple tools Use negotiation skills to achieve successful project outcomes The successful applicant will possess the following requirements (items are required unless noted otherwise): A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Project Management, or equivalent experience is required 10+ years of program management process and practical experience required that may include software development and design, professional services consulting and/or program management 8+ years of experience managing implementations of large-scale projects, multi-disciplined, cross-functional, and highly visible projects / programs and be responsible for multi-million dollar budgets and a team Must have excellent, accurate, and effective oral and written communication skills as well as positive, customer-focused interpersonal skills and attitude Must be able to work well independently and as a team member within the PMO / BMO, the IT Delivery Teams, and with business partners Must be able to use the Microsoft Office Suite of applications effectively including advanced use of MS Excel and Lotus Notes CA Workbench and Clarity experience is highly desirable Knowledge of the client, particularly the IT organization will be desirable Healthcare experience is preferred PMI Certification is preferred Need to have a very high degree of customer service and advocacy of the client Need to be agile and flexible The rules can change on a dime; you need to be savvy enough to manage upward and be tactful in the way you approach issues Customer service is very important Be someone that knows their way around a PMO environment; not delivery but portfolio management Understand the P/L concerning projects Can manage and speak to a financial portfolio Handle Big Financial Portfolio management
