PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Senior Mid Range Systems Specialist has responsibility to create the strategies to administration of Operating Systems (AIX, AS/400, Sun, Mainframe), storage arrays, SAN, backup utilities, and spooling. The Senior Mid Range Systems Specialist is responsible for the High Availability strategy as well as implementing business continuity. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS ' Manage the installation of the Operating Systems (AIX, AS/400, SUN, Mainframe) and apply newly released patches. This includes swapping machines at the end of the lease with new hardware. ' Manage the monitoring and optimization of the Operating Systems performance by viewing online data and offline reports. ' Manage the installation and maintenance of the spool software. ' Manage the installation and maintenance of the backup software and utilities including disk/tape libraries and tape rotations offsite ' Manage the maintenance and monitoring of all disk storage utilization including the patching of the client software to connect to the disk storage for all systems and applications including the Storage Area Network ' Provide technical assistance in problem analysis for developers, help desk, and other information services personnel especially for SAP, WebSphere, and other critical applications. ' Create the appropriate documentation for global procedures (SOPs). ' Test and evaluate new Hardware and Software and prepare recommendations to the Architecture and Availability teams.
