Position: Infrastructure Architect Department: Technology Architecture Solutions Delivery Job summary: The ‘Infrastructure Architect’ provides technical input to Ally projects, and monitors conformance to technical standards. Serves as technical infrastructure expert to project teams from idea through to deploy. Aligns infrastructure architecture to pragmatic and strategic solutions. Promotes re-use. Participates in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy. Communicates and validates infrastructure architecture with the wider architecture team, program / project manager, executive level stakeholders. Overseas infrastructure portfolio support. Job location: Detroit Leadership Responsibility: No direct reports, but responsible for leadership activities with Subject Matter Experts and third party vendors Major/Key Activities: Global Tech and Ops - Infrastructure Support Delivers infrastructure support to meet evolving business requirements, cost effectively Leads infrastructure initiatives Reviews impact of new requirements/ acquisitions/projects on infrastructure Creates necessary deliverables required to support infrastructure purchase/deployment Conducts quarterly planning reviews Project Support Provide Infrastructure support/knowledge to business unit solution architects Creates necessary deliverables required to support infrastructure purchase/deployment Drives vendors to produce deliverables for review and provides oversight direction Contributes to the project process by providing the necessary approvals at each stage of a project Attends project and tollgate meetings Provides positive direction to influence vendors Contributes to product selection process Platform Standards Works with architects to ensure compliance to standards and long term strategy Monitors project conformance and reports deviations Review Disaster Recovery compliance and impact on new deployments or upgrades Essential Skills: 5+ years experience in a technical solutions role Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure architecture Proven experience of delivering IT solutions within a set budget and within a set timeframe Ability to work at all levels of the organisation Excellent communication skills, written, oral and presentational Innovative in approach to problem resolution Previous experience in the role, preferably in a multi-national organisation HP-UX, Solaris, AIX and Wintel disciplines desired Pro-active problem solver, adept at getting to the root cause of problems and executing a workable solution Ability to travel as needed Self starter Preferred Skills: Experience in IT security standards Experience in IT operations Experience within outsourcing environment Awareness of project methodologies (e.g. Prince2) Competencies: Communication Team Orientation Relationship building Training Facilitation Decision Making / Judgement Strategic Problem Solving Keywords: Hardware Engineering
