We are currently seeking an Applications Packager for a contract opportunity based out of our <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /> Victoria , BC offices DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Creating Windows Installer packages for a migration to Windows 7 using Wise Package Studio (7.0), Altris or other tools Creating inventory of all applications that need to be packaged Creating Custom Actions for Install, Repair and Uninstall actions Recommending products that could be standardized and Reviewing Windows 7 compatibility Performing software installation scripting, packaging, testing application with client to confirm the install meets their needs Packaging application according to specs and diagnosing software installation errors & performing corrective actions Compiling final application package testing and package signoff, in addition to training and knowledge transfer of packaging techniques and process MUST-HAVES: Experience in Application Scripting, Packaging/ Re-packaging, script customizations, Microsoft Installer (MSI) technology and Application Distribution technologies which includes experience in the use of Wise Package Studio, VB Script, Batch script, and Software Distribution system experience including SCCM and Altiris Deployment of packages to Windows XP/7 environments Understanding of Windows XP packaging required for existing device and applications that cannot be utilized on Windows 7 Windows XP and Windows 7 expertise (full knowledge of OS operations, Registry, DLL's) Knowledge of 32-bit and 64-bit application packaging is required along with strong application troubleshooting skills and knowledge of Microsoft App-V is desirable Experience certifying and packaging applications for the Windows platform and building MSI installations to address first time installs and upgrades from scratch, repackaging of commercial and internal software affecting the enterprise, generating transform files & patches Knowledge of Microsoft VMware Workstation Excellent analytical skills and ability to apply them towards the investigation of existing installations Experience troubleshooting and elevating registry and file system security through MSI in a locked-down desktop environment NICE-TO-HAVES: Previous packaging experience within the Federal or Provincial Government or large enterprise managed desktop services department Previous knowledge and experience with IBM?s software packaging methodologies "Modis is one of the world's largest and most respected providers of Information Technology Resource Management (ITRM) services.
