Responsibilities The Senior UNIX Systems Engineer will tweak existing systems and introduce proactive changes following our established change management procedures. The Engineer will utilize skills in a programming or scripting language to automate routine tasks or solve system problems. The engineer needs to have a great deal of understanding in storage technology with fiber channel, NAS, iSCSI and etc. and to configure disk space on the SAN for use on UNIX as well as VMware systems. The candidate should have a solid understanding of virtualization technology in the following environments: UNIX, VMware, Linux and MS Windows. The Senior UNIX Systems Engineer will report to the Manager of the Network Operations Group. Requirements 5+ years of UNIX/Solaris experience (including DNS, mail, LDAP, etc.) 5+ years of Linux/RedHat experience (including DNS, mail, LDAP, etc.) 5+ years of Storage Area Network (fiber channel, NFS, iSCSI) 3+ years of experience Administering more than 50 Servers 3+ years of experience with Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas Filesystem, Veritas Cluster server, Sun Cluster server and/or Sun Volume Manager vSphere ESX. Confident in at least 1 programming language (Perl, Python, Advanced Shell, Java, C, etc.) Experience with DNS, LDAP, NIS, or NIS+, as well as Sendmail, Apache, and Java required Advanced Troubleshooting skills are a must Experience with Nagios, Cfengine, BEA Weblogic, Solaris, Jumpstart, Solaris 10 zones, Symantec Veritas Backup Express, Sybase Database, and Oracle Databases desired. 3+ years of experience administering servers with Fibre Channel attached storage arrays and tape libraries Must be able to work on call in a 24/7 environment The selected Engineer will also have experience documenting work using standard operating procedures.
