System Security Administrator
Title: Systems Security Administrator Location: Arlington, VA Duration: 6-12 months to longterm Rate: $55-60/hr on C2C/1099/W2 Key Areas of Responsibility • Design, document and maintain division-level security policies and procedures as well as monitor compliance with the same. • Align divisional-level security policies and procedures with corporate-level polices, ensuring compliance with the same. • Minimize and mitigate risks introduced by existing and new information technologies and services. • Establish, maintain and administer systems and applications necessary for appropriately managing and monitoring systems and application security. This includes providing input to defining compliance and monitoring metrics for system security as well as scanning of both applications and systems for vulnerabilities. • Participate in technical projects providing guidelines and guidance in relation to security requirements as it relates to the given project. • Perform security audits and provide feedback to management and teams regarding issues identified, remediation measures taken and progress being made towards resolution. • Evaluate, test and apply upgrades, patches and hot fixes to systems and applications on a timely basis and as necessary to maintain system and application security. • Regularly review system logs including servers, firewalls, applications and other data to identify potential security issues. • Answer security related questions posed by clients (both internal and external) during the normal course of business and particularly during the development of responses to client’s request for proposals (RFPs). • Keep abreast of best practices, current trends and events in the areas of system security Primary Qualifications The following qualifications are required for a candidate to be successful in the position. • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a technical major such as engineering or computer science. • 6 to 8 years or greater system administration experience. • Experience with both Windows and Linux operating systems. • Experience with web and middleware products such as Windows Internet Information Services, Apache, and JBoss. • Experience with patch delivery systems such as Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). • Experience with systems and application security scanning software including Nessus. • Experience with setting up and maintaining firewall policies and rules. • Experience with web applications and development frameworks. • Experience with one or more scripting languages including Powershell (preferred for Windows), Perl, or Python.
