Payroll Tax Accounting Analyst
Intermediate Peoplesoft 9.0 experience including Peoplesoft query and GL and Tax. Mult-state payroll accounting experience. Strong attention to detail. Strong understanding of payroll and payroll tax concepts, practices and procedures Advanced PC skills, including Microsoft Excel and Access. Expected Responsibilities: Assists in preparation of Payroll Taxes including but not limited to determining and remitting federal, sate, and local tax withholdings, preparing and submitting tax reporting filings, reconciling accounts and generating pay and reconciliation reports; provide customer service support resolving any issues or errors. Analyze data and information using various internal systems to support tax filings Support payroll accounting team in completing Payroll reconciliations to the general ledger Research and reconciliation of payroll taxes from prior periods Gather and report requested data to internal and external recipients Prepare and remit federal, state, and local tax reports in a timely fashion Prepare and submit monthly Worker’s Comp report to insurance carriers Perform account related activities and keep registers and reports Investigate and resolve tax notices from IRS, state and local authorities. Research Y/E related request and process corrections to wages/W2’s Perform tax research and assist with development of tax planning ideas and related implementation Process tax related corrections in Peoplesoft to ensure that employee tax setups are processed correctly Performs other duties as assigned by Payroll Management Suggested Experience & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience. Strong interpersonal, analytical, prioritization and communication skills.
