Desktop Engineer/MSI Packager
TEKsystems has partnered with a large bio pharmaceutical company in Gaithersburg, MD who is looking for an application packager/Desktop Engineer to join their team for a 2 year contract. This organization is currently upgrading their environment to Windows 7 and will need their applications repackaged. -stable contract with the opportunity to go full time -Great compensation Packages -Gain Experience working in an Enterprise environment Summary: The Desktop Engineering Specialist is responsible for the development, delivery and support of the Client standardized desktop operating environment globally. As part of a team reporting directly to the Desktop Engineering Manager this person will provide a pivotal role in creating and supporting the infrastructure used for the desktop environment. He or she will be involved in all aspects of the preparation of the operating systems and application packages that are used to deliver the Client build and will be able to provide a customer-facing role with regards to the testing and delivery of the Client build. This role is highly visible as it delivers the environment that provides the interface for all of the work, carried out in Client Information Services, to each of the users; therefore the candidate must be able to demonstrate previous experience of providing a fully-fledged operating environment. In addition to a competitive salary, this role provides the opportunity to build a packaging environment that supports industry standards for advanced packaging. As well as this opportunity, the candidate will learn Mac OS X administration and have the opportunity to take part in a transformation of 20th century desktop environment to a 21st century desktop environment. Responsibilities: - Development and support of Windows XP and Windows 7 operating system images. - Console support for desktop server applications including Symantec Endpoint Protection - Use of SCCM to deliver workstation images. - Packaging of applications in AdminStudio 10 including package troubleshooting, resolution and application database maintenance. - SCCM object administration and troubleshooting. - Patch deployment for operating system and application patching. - All aspects of testing and knowledge transfer for work carried out, including change management requests. - Handling requests for software packages from the business and planning the management of the packaging task. - Delivery of packages using SCCM. Requirements: - 2 years of windows image experience. - 3 years SMS/BDD/WDS/SCCM experience - 2 years experience of patching with at least WSUS or SUP. - 4 years packaging experience. AdminStudio/InstallShield preferable. To include demonstrable experience of resolution of problems with packages. Must include ability to handle packaging tasks from request to production. - Service Desk/I.T. Support experience, demonstrable good experience of management desirable, demonstrable experience of good customer server essential. - At least 3 years' experience of Group Policy and basic Active Directory tasks. - Working knowledge and experience of ITIL standards and procedures. - Understanding of technical support processes and workflow. - Demonstrable excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. - Strong organizational and conceptual skills. - Ability to lead and work independently. - Knowledge of Service-Now, Remedy or other best practices tools is preferred. - Strong critical thinking, analytic and problem solving abilities. - Positive "can-do" attitude. - Ability to maintain focus in a high pressure environment. - Honesty, integrity and reliability. - Also desirable, XP to Windows 7 migrations, Mac OS X and VDI delivery.
