Logistics Development Engineer

Job Location: Staffordshire Job Position: Logistics Development Engineer Job Status: Contract Job Profile: This position is an exciting opportunity to lead the design and implementation of a logistics process for a Greenfield facility. This is an assignment that offers significant development opportunities. Essential Skills Experience and Qualifications: Only candidates with a Degree within a supply chain, logistics or associated subject will be considered. You must have aproject and leadership background in logistics and supply chain is needed. Travel will be required and maybe significant in the early part of this year as we build the team in India, so you must be able to travel abroad and possibly for extended periods of time. You must have excellent English written and spoken skills. You must have a Supply Chain and Internal Logistics Background. You will need to have previous Project Management Experience. You must have the ability to communicate and work at all levels in an organisation. You must have either an APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification. Experience with Value Stream Transformation processes. You must have experience and knowledge of lean concepts and tools. You must have experience and knowledge of supply chain principles, specifically those applied to pull replenishment using material replenishment tools and processes, Supply Chain Planning analytical tools, material flow and throughput efficiency. Job Description: Reporting to the Programme Manager you would be responsible for the logistics stream and a logistics engineer on this company project. Your responsibilities will include working with representatives in both the UK and Asia to establish start up processes for import and export of components and engines. You will be designing the logistics operational processes for the new facility, establishing the transportation and packaging processes, developing cost analysis and optimising efficiencies. There will also be a requirement to recruit the logistics team members at the site in India. The individual will need to work closely with the rest of the project team to integrate the logistics elements into the overall project. You will be responsible for leading the logistics Stream for the new Engine Facility in India. You will be responsible for developing timing plans for the UK and Indian activities. You will be required to track costs and manage the project budget. You will track and report progress into the project management structure. You will oversee the Logistics process design working closely with the Internal Logistics Group. You will manage and work with the internal logistics service providers to ensure the most cost effective solution. You will coordinate inputs from other project team members. You will act as the primary contact to integrate logistics design to operational design. You will develop process at the UK facility to support the export of components. You will recruit and establish an Indian supply chain team for the new facility. You will integrate logistics processes into the business MRP system. Salary/Rate: £21 to £32 per hour on a limited company basis depending on previous experience.
