Our client located in the Philly Metro area is looking for a Senior SQL DBA for a 6 month contract assignment. There is a strong possibility for this contract to go much longer. Job Description: Sr. Database administrator responsible for supporting MS SQL Server databases and ensuring their performance, availability and security. Provide 24X7 on-call support for production systems. Assist in creating standards, implementing new technologies, data archiving strategies. Reviews database design and integration of systems and makes recommendations for enhancements or improvements. Perform code releases into production. Troubleshoot errors, query optimization and performance tuning. Sr. database administrator will work with developers and business owners to define requirements, evaluate project requirements, determine and design the best solution to a problem or feature, lead projects.   Responsibilities: Design and develop data models and database architecture Develop and enhance stored procedures, triggers, functions, views Maintain existing DTS packages Migration of DTS packages into SSIS Create SSIS packages to load, transform and process data Interface with internal clients to gather requirements and provide coding and development as well as support and maintenance Develop scripts to automate administration and management of the environment Understanding database administration support including backups, recovery, security Backup for production DBA responsibilities Resolving database production issues, code troubleshooting Database tuning and monitoring Create technical specifications and support documentation Provide technical guidance and training of the T-SQL to application development team members Provide regular status updates on projects, including progress updates and identification of issues associated with assigned tasks Able to work in a fast changing environment Research and introduce new database technologies   Experience/Technical skills: 5-8 years database development and administration using Microsoft SQL Server ( 2000-2005-2008) Knowledge of MS system stored procedure and tables In depth T-SQL knowledge is required, including advanced tuning skills Knowledge of MS SQL Server 2000 DTS packages Experience with Microsoft SSIS Experience with Microsoft SSAS Knowledge of XML technologies Strong written and verbal communications skills Experience with Agile Development Methodology
