Video Library Archivist -- Mountain View, CA
We are a Fortune 100 company in Mountain View, CA, with a really fun campus and a lot of cool stuff to do. Our internal video production department needs a fabulous, full time Archivist. Are you a freak about getting things into a state of perfect organization? Do you love spreadsheets? Do you get a thrill from delivering an asset to someone who needed it yesterday? If so, read on. ********************************************************************* An Archivist is needed to manage the Video Library (VL), a digital archival system and searchable database for all video projects and related assets. This position requires a highly organized individual. This is not a video production position, nor will it become one. Primary Responsibilities • Archive completed projects and upload to user interface. • Oversee metadata entry. • Manage requests for archiving, retrieval and delivery of assets. • Oversee organization of the production SAN. • Monitor project naming and asset organization as defined in Editor Guidelines. • Work with Editors, Data Wrangler and Producers to ensure proper project set up and workflow. • Together with VL Manager, define archiving and media management workflows. • Work with Data Wrangler and other technical support personnel to maintain Near Line Storage and tape backups. • Maintain integrity of Stock Footage Library, including determining which assets should be included, naming those assets and creating complete metadata for them. • Advise management regarding ongoing near line storage space requirements. Qualifications • Highly organized, analytical and detail‐oriented. • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a video digital archivist or media manager. • Team player. • Ability to multitask easily, including under pressure. • Four‐year degree from an accredited college or university. • Proficiency with Final Cut Pro, Compressor and Google Docs. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Knowledge of tape backup and archival systems is a plus. • Knowledge of Unix is a plus. • Knowledge of Final Cut Server is a plus.
