Technical Writer
This is an excellent and exciting opportunity for a Technical Writer who likes to travel. Our client in San Diego, CA is looking for a Technical Writer. In this role you should plan a 4 weeks visit at our location in Bergisch Gladbach (GL), both, to get introduced to the team, their way of working, their processes, various documents and their organization, communication paths, and to get a technical introduction to the manufacturing facility in Troisdorf. You will organize the validation, the review information of the instructions and updates the instructions in close contact with their team. Bilingual in German a plus. The technical writer creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication. Additionally: Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation. Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users. May document engineering processes and specifications. Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards. Requirements: The Technical Writer shall have an excellent technical background (engineer, technical study at university of applied science or equivalent qualification) and: shall be an experienced Technical Writer with excellent communication skills, excellent lingual style, highly reliable and committed, bilingual (English/German) would be perfect. shall be experienced in FrameMaker (9), a graphic tool (Photoshop Elements or equivalent) and MS Office tools. The candidate will get the introduction in GL and then shall organize the validation of the instructions in the field in San Diego. In addition, one of the team's Technical Writers will regularly support the validation in San Diego for some days. An installation team will be located at the site, roughly consisting of experienced employees from GL and an external rigging company.
