Role: Database Analyst Type: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract Salary: £36,296 per annum Location: London Morgan Hunt are recruiting on behalf of our client, a Regulatory Body for a Database Analyst on a Fixed-Term Contract basis. The purpose of the role is to support the development of all the organisations databases, working alongside operational and policy managers. This will involve working with the Business Analyst on designing, scoping and facilitating cross functional projects to enhance and develop the use of the CARE database software. The role will include taking business needs and change requests, and translating them into enhancements of the core database systems. In addition the role will include setting up and running reports as required by the business, systemising the production of performance data and maximising the use of the organisations key databases, setting up and running all testing for the council's databases, and advising the business users on the implications of database changes. Areas of Responsibility *Work on the implementation of single function and cross-functional change projects; including: oProviding support to the Project Sponsor oSolution design based on requirements gathered by the Business Analyst oDuring the project life cycle: determine appropriate implementation dates, produce migration plans, review test results and gain sign off oDesign, script and run database testing *Liaise effectively with suppliers and the Business Analyst to ensure that business needs are well-documented and understood by suppliers, and that database issues and solutions are communicated to the Business Analyst. *Implement agreed changes to database configuration/set-up, including look-up data, and support user groups and managers by developing database solutions to evolving business requirements. *Work with the Business Analyst on the development of new business systems and business process review. *Set up, maintain and run reports on specific database queries, as defined by the business. These reports shall be maintained in SQL Server Reporting Services. *Advise the Database Manager and / or other Senior Managers on database integrity issues.   Person Specification Qualifications and Experience *Relevant IT qualification e.g. Prince 2, ITIL, MCDBA, Degree in IT / Computer Science / Software Engineering, HND in Computing *Demonstrable experience of hands-on IT, working with SQL databases to achieve objectives and business users to achieve objectives *Experience with managing external vendors *Experience in documenting defects/enhancements and implementing solutions Knowledge *Knowledge of relational database management systems, and principles of relational database design Skills and Abilities *Excellent SQL Server skills *Excellent SQL Server Analysis Services skills *Ability to think logically, has a demonstrated track record of researching and investigating issues and problem-solving. This will include analysing problems; identify solution criteria and producing a range of options to solve issues and implementing the best fit solution. *Excellent time management skills including planning, effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and reliability.
