Java Developer with Mainframe COBOL
Announcing a great opportunity in midtown Atlanta for an object-oriented Java Developer with Mainframe skills (Cobol/CICS/DB2)If selected for this position, you will become a member of the team supporting a 24x7, mission-critical application. We are seeking candidates that are well rounded; that possess maturity, vision, and a depth of experience that allows for grasping of issues quickly and making educated, critical judgments/decisions in the absence of complete information. For the first four to six months, you would work on a contract basis at our customer's location (with benefits available through our firm). Then, you would convert to Full time employment with this enterprise-level company, a well-established and stable employer with an excellent benefits package. Job Responsibilities: Serve as ateam member in a complex, critical computing environment spanning the Object Oriented Java environment with Mainframe technologies. The work associated with this position will be divided evenly between new projects and support activities. Work in a fast-paced environment with on-call duties as required and work with a diverse, high-performance team. Interface with internal business partners, third-party suppliers/vendors, and internal IT application programmers for both new development and problem determination/resolution. Assure the highest levels of stability, integrity, reliability, security, and availability of the application. Adhere to the established change control policies and prescribed procedures. Produce documentation and procedures following our customer's standards Correct reported problems with software Utilize a problem management tool to track open tickets and follow up to resolution and closure Execute special projects or other related duties as required. Utilize excellent interpersonal skills for the purposes of requirements gathering and coordination with other technicalteams, business partners, and third party vendors Required Skills: Skills Required: 3+ years in Object Oriented application development HTML (JSP) Java 1.6 (J2EE) Web Services (Creation of Services and Clients) Object Oriented Analysis and Design JDBC XML 4-year College Degree preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field Strong written and verbal skills Strong interpersonal skills Strong teamwork and customer support focus Ability to handle numerous conflicting priorities in a professional manner Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills on highly complex problems; technical agility Desired Skills: Mainframe skills would be a plus to any candidate including: Cobol II, Command-level CICS, TSO/ISPF, OS/JCL, VSAM, Serena ChangeMan, Expediter DB2 BEA WebLogic Application Server 10g.3 ANT PVCS MQ Eclipse Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Visio) This position has a July 2012 start date. Upon successful and satisfactory performance of duties, you will be converted to a Full time position with our customer. Duration of contract trial period is expected to last 4 to 6 months.
