POSITION SUMMARY   This position is responsible for conducting the initial research and demonstrating feasibility for new immunoassay concepts using high quality experimental/statistical design.  Key components of this position are innovation, the generation of new ideas, and the establishment of clear performance objectives and evaluation criteria to demonstrate feasibility of those ideas.   Since this position entails frequent intra-department interaction as well as frequent inter-department interfaces with Marketing, Customers, and Manufacturing, the incumbent must inspire the cooperation and confidence of others.   ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES   Key Responsibilities of the Job: •           Follows all departmental SOP’s, Luminex Corporation OP’s, and regulatory and safety agency requirements •           Works independently and provides effective leadership, mentoring and supervision to Scientists and Associate Scientists •           Leads junior staff in designing, performing and interpreting well-controlled early research experiments in preparation for transfer to full development •           Generates, analyzes, and interprets laboratory results to provide a strong, reliable scientific foundation for feasibility and/or verification of assay performance •           Effectively and efficiently troubleshoots assay issues and gives guidance to more junior staff •           Reports laboratory findings in a concise and effective manner internally via verbal presentations and externally through poster presentations •           Writes instructions and protocols, and maintains detailed laboratory notebooks according to SOP •           Other related duties as assigned
