Analytical Chemist / Chemist Salary: £19,000 6 Month contract initially - very good chance of leading to permanent for the right person. The Role: Analytical Chemist / Chemist Due to a number of long-term projects that are vital for our continued business growth, we currently have an opportunity for an analyst to join our Quality Control. Some typical duties include: Using a range of analytical techniques, instrumentation and software, such as gas and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and spectroscopy (infrared and ultraviolet, amongst others) to test incoming raw materials and finished products for compliance against specification; Interpreting data and adhering to strict guidelines on documentation when recording data; Calibration of laboratory instruments; Preparing standard test methods, procedures and performing risk assessments; Validating and developing test methods; Liaising with contract testing and calibration laboratories; Working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams. The Candidate: Analytical Chemist / Chemist You will hold a degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related subject, and have experience of working in an analytical laboratory - ideally in an industrial environment. Applications from candidates without formal qualifications to this level but with extensive laboratory experience will be considered. Highly self-motivated, you must have sound problem-solving skills and will be methodical, organised and have an excellent attention to detail. You must be able to work both in a team and independently, using your own initiative, and to follow standard operating procedures. Practical experience of HPLC, GC and AA analysis would be desirable. You will preferably have knowledge of quality standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 and complying with the principles and guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Client will also consider fresh Chemistry graduates.
