Hourly Paid Lecturers - Hairdressing £25.41 - £38.72 per hour We are looking for Hourly paid Lecturers to teach across the full range of levels offered within the Hairdressing Department Ideally, you will have recent experience in teaching and assessing both theory and practical subjects in Hairdressing. You will be qualified to level 3 and have A1 or equivalent. As well as this you will have demonstrable organisational skills, communication and numeracy skills and enjoy working as part of a team to develop a syllabus/curriculum. Teaching qualification is preferred, but if you don't have one, you will be given some financial support to obtain a full teaching qualification. About the College The College of North West London (CNWL) based in Brent is a successful Further Education College offering a wide range of full time and part time courses, from beginner to foundation degree/HND/HNC level. Description of duties • To contribute to the planning and preparation of the learning programmes in the subject(s) and associated subjects to College and Faculty standards • To deliver effective programmes of learning, through efficient classroom management • To undertake monitoring and assessment of students' and clients' progress and maintain up-to-date and accurate records in line with College internal verification procedures and examining body standards • To undertake administrative duties associated with allocated learning programmes or as may otherwise be required for example in relation to the tutoring, attendance, support and achievement of students. • To provide a high standard of academic and personal support for students and clients, including acting as course/personal tutor if required, to ensure the best possible satisfaction, attendance and achievement levels. To refer students with pastoral needs to College Services. • To act as an Assessor and/or Internal Verifier if so required and achieve the appropriate accreditation, if necessary. • To liaise, from time to time as necessary, with employers, awarding bodies, schools and other organisations as necessary to enable the learning requirements of students to be met effectively for course programme/publicity and promotion, validation, quality assurance or other reasons. • To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required within the scope of duties and hours of the post. Experience / Qualifications Essential Criteria: • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification • Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS) qualification or willingness to complete this within 1 year from date of appointment. • A willingness to achieve a teaching qualification within an agreed timescale of appointment (if 1.2 & not satisfied) • An A Award qualification • Knowledge and understanding of current curriculum and accreditation developments. • Recent, relevant teaching experience in the Hairdressing or experience of working within the Hair and Beauty Industry. • Experience of working as a member of a team and with people of diverse backgrounds • Effective interpersonal skills with students and staff at all levels • Ability to offer and help students use a wide variety of learning materials, methods and styles. • Ability to establish productive and supportive working relationships with students, clients and colleagues • Good organisational and administrative skills • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines • Ability to demonstrate excellence in the delivery of teaching and training • In addition to candidates ability to perform the duties of the post, the interview will also explore issues relation to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children • An understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities • Enthusiasm and ability to inspire students and clients • Prepared to participate in new developments and contribute professional advice Desirable Criteria: • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. DTTLS Cert.Ed/PGCE) • Experience of using ILT in teaching Closing Date: 25th July 2012 Please note, if you are successful in the selection process you will be required to complete a College application form before the advertised close date.
