Estimator - Contract - Water -Cheshire Projects that the team work on can be anything between £100,000 to £50m in value and dependent upon business requirements can involve providing budgetary support and due diligence advice to major programmes of work ranging from £100m to £2b. At any one time there are normally a very large number of projects underway and depending on the size and nature of the project, the role will vary. As a consequence an important part of this role is to help develop and improve the capability and specialism of the team as part of a continuously developing process. Estimators in the team are essential to the effective delivery of the estimating service and in providing a valued service to clients. There is an expectation that their commercial acumen and project experience can be drawn upon to provide valued support to the work of other members of the estimating and project team. Within the role here are also opportunities for individuals to develop and build up skills and expertise to enhance their contribution to estimating team and help in career development to become a specialist estimator. There is really no such thing as a typical project. Every business request for service can bring its own particular challenges – be it time, cost, complexity or expertise. This means that Estimators in the team are both capable of handling these types of issues themselves and prepared to resolve these with the support and involvement of the team Qualifications To fully handle the role of an Estimator the individual would normally meet the following criteria: 1. Have good work experience within the Water Industry (or other related types of work) 2. Have experience in the delivery of engineering design, procurement, contract or construction management aspects of project management 3. Have competent estimating capabilities covering civil, mechanical or electrical work 4. Have good commercial awareness gained working with various Commercial Arrangements, Contractual Conditions and/or Project Delivery Strategies 5. Have the ability to work in a cost effective manner understanding and satisfying customer requirements in support of the team’s aims of maximising opportunities for future work 6. Have the legal right to live and work in the UK for a minimum of 2 years, either through being a member of the EEA or through holding a current work permit or visa for applicants who are not members of the EEA (ie through ancestral rights).
