Part-Time Contract Program Coordinator About the Program UC Hastings College of the Law will be developing and hosting a series of workshops (Fall 2012) and summer program (Summer 2013) to be known as the Edmond Davis ’62 Summer Scholars Program (the Davis Summer Scholars Program). The goal of this program is to help SFUSD 9th graders 1.learn more about the law and gain exposure to educational and career opportunities in the legal field 2. develop and practice their critical reading, writing and thinking skills for application in high school and beyond and 3. gain a greater perspective about career pathways and opportunities and begin to formulate goals for their own careers and professional lives. Position Description This is a part-time, contract position (20 hours per week for 4 months) with the opportunity to continue the contract in 2013. The Program Coordinator will working closely with UC Hastings and other contract staff to develop the program, recruit participants for the program, coordinate workshops and support successful execution of the program. Primary Responsibilities Program Development: •Work closely with UC Hastings staff and curriculum developers to schedule guest speakers and general programming. Outreach and Recruitment and Admissions •Outreach to high schools across SFUSD to share program information and recruit potential program participants •Review applications and move candidates through admissions process •Accept a cohort of 15 program participants for Fall 2012 Data Entry and Management: •Enter and maintain student academic and demographic data in Excel. Set up systems to ensure accurate data entry and integrity of data. Program Support: •Coordinate all programming with program participants, instructors and guests speakers. •Requisition office and program supplies, printing and other services on an on-going basis. •Track and support participants through the duration of the program. Qualifications: •Passion for preparing students in underserved communities to lead by example in their families, communities and careers. •Experience working across multiple aspects of programming: recruitment, program development, operations and scheduling, student success. Experience with a start-up non-profit program a plus. •A strong work ethic and positive attitude, with a willingness to be flexible and do whatever it takes to get the job done. •Superb interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with program candidates, their families, colleagues, the SFUSD and UC Hastings personnel, professors and guests. •Outstanding time management skills, with proven ability to be nimble, multi-task, accomplish numerous tasks and change priorities in an effective and timely manner. •Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field; law degree preferred. •Spanish language proficiency preferred.
