POSITION Target Language Expert, Farsi LOCATION Online REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Native proficiency of Farsi • Very good spoken and written English language skills • College degree or equivalent experience • Knowledge of and frequent contact with the language culture • Ability to navigate the web, and good basic computer skills • Computer with broadband Internet connection PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Academic and/or professional background in linguistics, language teaching, translation, or a related field • Voice-acting talent/experience (e.g. theater, film, radio, public speaking, etc.) • Very good Farsi writing skills RESPONSIBILITIES • Collect authentic spoken and written texts (“passages”) in Farsi from the Internet, radio, TV, newspapers, etc. • Create spoken and written passages in Farsi according to detailed specifications • Provide accurate English translations of the Farsi passages • Provide linguistic and cultural information about the Farsi passages COMPENSATION Payment is per accepted passage. $40 - $160 per passage, depending on passage difficulty level and domain (reading/listening).
