Cognos Developer/Architect Duties and Responsibilities: Lead, design and develop BI solutions using Cognos Experience creating Cognos dashboards and complex reports. Performance management and best practices for Cognos reporting and modeling Designing and developing standard reporting and ad-hoc reporting environments Troubleshoot and resolve the applications or integrations issues Cognos based work estimates and work planning Architecting Cognos multi-dimensional cube solutions Developing Framework Manager models by leveraging Cognos recommended design techniques Development and enhancement of Cognos Portal through SDK Assign development tasks and monitor, improve, and report on the Cognos development process / progress Assist project manager in preparing time estimates and justification for assigned tasks Data modeling, data architecture and analytics Customer engagement, interpersonal, presentation and overall communication (written and verbal) Participate in business process redesign, and work closely with stakeholders, define & refine business requirements, scope, design, quality and technical design Determines data warehousing strategy; selects tools and techniques, including middleware, data cleansing tools, and/or data management systems to provide the solution to data and client issues and other matters of significance and to meet business needs. Evaluates existing subject areas stored in the data warehouse and determines where data should be stored. Provides descriptive analyses of customer, product, and market trends and identifies and resolves data issues. Performs quality assurance testing of data integration and report development. Monitors data load operations to ensure accuracy. Requirements Skills and Experience Desired: 5+ years of technology implementation, system integration or development experience with solid understanding of Cognos BI OLAP Architecture and Administration Strong expertise with Cognos OLAP platform sizing, troubleshooting, tuning & disaster recovery Strong expertise with tuning Cognos BI OLAP components for faster access and performance (i.e. Transformer, PowerPlay Cube, PowerPlay Client and PowerPlay Studio) Experience with application development and operational support Proficient in implementing user level and data level securities within Cognos Complete understanding of data warehouse modeling, architectures, OLAP, OLTP data sets, etc. Should have very precise and clear understanding about the migration utility and its usage and implementation 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, multi-dimensional cubes, and relational models as well as complex reports. 5+ years of experience in data management or computer programming 5+ years of experience in Framework manager, transformer, Query Studio, Reporting Studio, event Studio 5+ years of SQL Two or more years of experience being able to map design documents and solutions that match the business requirements. Experience working with programming concepts Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (Bachelor's degree in data management, computer science, or related field preferred) Experience working with data warehousing standards, strategies, and tools Strong communication skills to interact with team members, clients, and support personnel Perform lead role with other Cognos Developers by following building and improving on development best practices Collaborates with business users and works well within a large team Good analytical and problem solving skills for selecting data tools and resolve data warehousing issues
