Job Description: Our customer, a leader in the financial industry with locations from coast to coast, is searching for an Underwriter. This Underwriter is a contract position. Position Details: Position: Underwriter Location: Jacksonville, FL Hours: 8AM – 5PM Pay Rates: 25.00 – 28.85 Length: 5 months Job Description: Underwrites mortgage loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards. Evaluates loans in order to maximize organizational profit and minimize risk or loss. Examines loan documentation for accuracy and completeness.. May be involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional,, etc.) Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and responding to claims of breach of representations and warranties of residential mortgage contracts to ensure loans were closed in adherence to established guidelines at time of origination. May include validation of income, assets and credit/liability documentation to support origination underwriting decision. Minimum of 2 - 4 years residential mortgage underwriting experience including manual decisioning, Ability to validate income, asset and collateral documents including self employed tax returns. Critical reasoning skills required in order to draft rebuttal responses for investor repurchase request. Must have excellent written communication skills. Required Experience/Qualifications: 1) Minimum 2-4 years of residential mortgage underwriting, compliance, forensic underwriting, mortgage loan repurchases, quality control audit reviews or loan origination. 2) Ability to work on calculations and excellent reasoning skills. 3) Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in developing and articulating persuasive arguments. 4) Excellent time management skills with an emphasis on quality, great ability to multi-task. 5) Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiar with DU, LP and other AUS systems.
