Microsoft Access front end for SQL Server slow to edit table
We have an Access front end application to a SQL Server database. Our application uses datasheet forms to display SQL Server data. Our users have the ability to edit data in the datasheet form directly. These forms and the data behind them are linked to SQL using ODBC. One table we are accessing using these datasheets contains 14 million rows. When the user goes to edit the table using the datasheet for the first time Access will pause for about 1-2 min. After that first edit the additional edits are immediate. It appears Access is doing some kind of lookup or sync behind the scenes. I need a way to shorten or eliminate this delay while maintaining the built in Access functionality like sorting and filtering the datasheet. Since this is a problem with very large SQL Tables I cannot send a sample. I am looking for someone who has experience with this particular problem not just general Access skills.
