Responsibilities: Supporting telecom industry realtime DB in High availability environment. Analyzing DB problems, tuning DB on live systems. Finding Root Cause of Outages/Critical problems, post-mortem analysis, and providing recommendations to field. Having a over-all view of BSS databases alongwith its interfaces to connect the dots that led to the problem. Responsible for managing time efficiently and effectively. Ability to respond to after hours situations. Minimum Qualifications/Experience: Minimum of five years experience. Thorough knowledge of Oracle 8i, Oracle 10g. A strong knowledge in Oracle backup and restore procedure. Oracle command line interface and utilities (rcat, statspack, awr reports, hanganalize etc) Prior experience in a 24X7 HA RealTime environment. Make efficiency and performance improvement recommendations. Work with database vendors to research database topics/issues/identify bugs as necessary. Desirable Skills: Oracle 11. Knowledge of DDL, Triggers, Stored Procedures, various database objects, UNIX Korn Shell scripts,Disaster Recovery features and setup and/or Perl as necessary. Updated on new Oracle features.
