Successful candidates are experienced in writing and editing for web-based applications using web-editorial best practices and User Centered Design (UCD) techniques. JOB QUALIFICATIONS 3-5 years experience writing and editing content for large-scale, high-volume enterprise or consumer applications or web sites Experience working with Product Managers, Business Analysts and Interaction Designers on complex applications, providing editorial guidance to facilitate easy-to-use solutions Excellent business and technical writing skills with a focus on clarity of purpose and succinct instruction Experience working with business and technical teams - balancing the pragmatism required to meet releases timelines with the creativity needed to create a good user experience Proven ability to manage own projects and schedules Knowledge of web-based technologies and their impact on readability and usability Experience in Insurance or Financial Services Ability to provide a portfolio that demonstrates your talent as a content writer and/or editor for online systems. Ideally this would include examples of screens with field labels, error messages, help text, and possibly editorial style guides Primary Responsibilities Develop software application content for forms, help text, error messages, etc. Collaborate closely with the business analyst, interaction designer and product manager in an iterative process Coordinate with other projects, governance and brand organizations to guarantee consistency and compliance across products and platforms Utilize methodologies such as user research, competitive analysis and content audits, to ensure high quality design and content delivery Uphold, evangelize and continuously seek out ways to improve content quality standards Assist in the effort to define editorial web standards for internal applications Identify opportunities to improve content processes and tools to enhance productivity or product quality Preferred Qualifications BA in English, Journalism, Communications, or other related field; 3+ years experience in writing and editing copy for web and software applications; Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills Excellent understanding of user-centered design processes, information architecture, and best practices in content management Excellent communication skills and the ability to present work to all levels of management, negotiating and influencing to build consensus Great team player who can easily adapt in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment Familiar with product development processes in a corporate environment Experience writing for accessibility & ADA compliance a plus Experience in an agile development environment a plus
