AmeriCorps EDTAP Program Director AmeriCorps Expanded Day Teaching Artist Project Application Deadline: July 31, 2012 Position available: August 2012 Providence CityArts seeks a full -time AmeriCorps Program Director for our Expanded Day Teaching Artist Project (EDTAP). This position is responsible for recruitment, hiring, training and supervising the service activities of the AmeriCorps EDTAP members, and for general oversight and implementation of EDTAP activities with school partners. The Program Director will oversee 5 full-time members and 24 minimum time members over a one-year period. Position is a one-year contract position, with the potential for renewal pending funding. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Members Oversee recruitment and retention of full-time and minimum time members Coordinate selection and placement of FT and MT members in program sites Assist members in building on-the-ground arts integration partnerships with individual teachers in classrooms and site administrators Develop/coordinate pre-service orientations, ongoing trainings Lead weekly member meetings, provide direct training and technical assistance, critical feedback curriculum development and lesson planning team building arts integration and learning Conduct studio/classroom observations and feedback/coaching on member teaching practices Facilitate member engagement in MLK Day of Service and National AmeriCorps Week Service Projects Ensure that member files are complete to meet reporting requirements for OnCorps and internal records Conduct mid- and end-of-year member performance reviews, and support recognition/celebrations Work with members to resolve performance issues Gather and manage members’ timesheets and activity data reports Manage enrollment and members’ benefits (health, child care subsidy, student loan forbearance) Administrative, Management and Evaluation Support fund development efforts in new and continuation grant proposals, and raising matching revenue and in-kind resources Complete all AmeriCorps reports and submission in E-grants and OnCorps Work with CityArts Executive Director and Education Director, consultants and host sites, to design and implement Evaluation Plan including: data collection, Digication documentation and OnCorps system Meet regularly with Executive Director and Education Director to provide internal updates and reporting Report payroll, expenses, and contributions to CityArts Business manager Coordinate reimbursements, purchases and payables with CA Business manager Attend all PD meetings and events hosted by ServeRI and work collaboratively to ensure linkages with other AmeriCorps programs in the state Partner and Community Relations / Collaboration Lead and engage partner schools, teachers and youth organizations in understanding multiple roles of arts learning in advancing outcomes for urban at-risk youth Champion EDTAP arts-integration goals, and facilitate implementation by members and site partners Meet with site supervisors and CityArts team to discuss issues, progress, and concerns related to members’ duties and responsibilities at the site level Meet with Executive Director and Education Director bi-weekly, and coordinate periodic planning meetings with program partners Build and support relationships between members and host sites Participate in/support funder and donor visits to program Support CityArts communication/media efforts REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES Professional practice in arts education and community youth arts during in-school and out-of-school time Solid understanding of arts integration, program design, and evaluation MAT or MA in Arts Education preferred Evidence of 1-2yrs of program management, leadership and team-building skills Leadership in managing, mentoring, and coaching novice teachers or teaching artists Experience in building or fostering collaborative partnerships with urban public schools and teachers Strong writing and communication skills Digital media and computer savvy—msword, photoshop, excel Familiarity with AmeriCorps programs and E-Grants/OnCorps systems Ability to communicate, engage and inspire various institutional partners and individuals Portfolio of own creative practice CityArts OVERSIGHT AND ADMINISTRATION The AmeriCorps EDTAP Program Director will report directly to both Executive Director and Education Director for overall Program supervision and performance review. Performance will be reviewed three months after date of hire, with a year-end review thereafter. This Position will require time commitment to address all areas outlined above, and may incur hours beyond the set schedule. This Position may be renewable after one year, pending availability of funding and performance outcomes. BENEFITS Compensation: $33,000-38,000 salary commensurate with experience, paid bi-weekly Healthcare: 60% individual healthcare coverage BCBSRI Holidays: National holidays* occurring within set schedule will be compensated Total of 2 weeks of paid vacation to be scheduled during non-peak program periods Mandatory work day on Martin Luther King Day, to support Day of Service activities.
