New York Medical College, located in Valhalla, NY seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for a temporary assignment beginning immediately. This assignment could lead to a full-time position. The EH&S Specialist will support EH&S in the development and implementation of comprehensive safety and research compliance programs.  Performs routine radiation safety audits, inspections, and maintains records.  Provides information to clients on technical guidelines and EH&S policies, procedures, and practices.  Supports the Laboratory Safety Officer in the coordination of compliance with all internal plans, and all applicable regulations. Performs other duties as necessary. Knowledge of:  safety practices and procedures for general industry; understanding of basic research operations; use of Microsoft Office Suite(especially Access and Excel). Knowledge of: NFPA, Current 24- or 40-Hour HAZWOPER, 30-hour OSHA, DOT HAZMAT; current Heartsaver CPR/First Aid Training.  Experience with radioisotopes in a laboratory setting a plus.
