Immediate contract opportunity for Linux Systems Administrator with Direct Government Client in Queens, NY Trigyn's Direct Government Client has a contract assignment for a Linux Systems Administrator in Queens, NY. Description: Trigyn's Direct Government Client seeks a highly skilled systems administration specialist skilled in SuSE Linux ideally, or RedHat and IBM WebSphere to assist in the support and maintenance of existing departmental systems. The position entails 24 x 7 monitoring of system infrastructure, creating reports when failure occurs; deploying, testing, performance tuning and administering the code changes to existing infrastructure. MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered. • Very strong experience and in-depth knowledge of installing, administering and maintaining SuSe or RedHat Linux servers. • Experience in deploying web based application in a clustering environment. • Experience with installing open source software on Linux systems, such as Apache, Heartbeat. • Experience in monitoring the performance of server based hardware and software. Ability to generate reports and troubleshoot system performance • Create and follow through on change control for any modifications to the organization’s software or hardware infrastructure • Familiarity with HP servers. Ability to install Linux OS and updating all the firmware needed to bring the server up to specifications. Ability to automate patching of Linux servers. • Ability to research open source technologies • Excellent interpersonal relations, communications, people skills and a self-starter DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: - • Experience in a corporate IT environment • Experience in a customer-facing corporate environment • Understanding of business process software • Understand and experience in disaster recovery, backup and restore processes SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS • This is a hybrid position where the candidate needs to have very good Linux administration skills along with strong WebSphere administration skills.
