Program Manager
Our client in Santa Clara, CA is the premier measurement company focused on creating instruments for the communications, electronics and life sciences industries. As a Government Contract Program Manger in the central research organization you will report to the Director of the Molecular Detection Laboratory and assist in coordinating the efforts of multiple project teams involved in the development of new chemical instrumentation. These teams are all contributing to a multi-faceted program partial supported by Government funding. The ideal candidate will have a track record of managing research teams to tightly focused milestones and schedules. A strong cross organizational focus is needed supported by strong communication and presentation skills. You will have had experience working with and managing MS and PhD level scientists and engineers. Responsibilities include: Coordinating the activities of three different teams engaged in developing gas phase measurement technologies. Tracking project progress against defined milestones. Preparation and coordination of monthly communications meetings. Organizing and preparing PowerPoint presentations for Quarterly progress reports. Requirements: Educated to at least university degree level in engineering, chemistry or physics, with 5+ years' relevant experience and a track record of project management. Strong presentation and PowerPoint skills. Bonus points: Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, spanning physics, mechanical design, electronics and firmware development. Experience working in matrix management environments Prior experience managing a team of technical professionals (PhD and MS. level Engineers/Scientists) engaged in novel research. Experience with some type of analytical instrumentation development. Involvement in at least one project that led to a successful commercial product introduction, preferably in a leadership role.
