Need Serious Comic Book Artist for Interactive Graphic Novel
Project "Way of the Sax" is an interactive graphic novel in a 3-part action series. In addition to a great story about a traveling martial artist/jazz saxophonist, this unprecedented endeavor will include nice fade in/out screen transitions, items to be clicked on and "collected" for an achievement system, a save option (maybe), music tailored for what's going on in the panel (unlike current HTML5 comics), psuedo animation (kind of like the Tron Legacy comic), several minigames, extra scenes, and multiple endings. Future versions may feature voice acting, but this is not a priority right now. Story Synopsis Ken Suto is a half-Japanese, half-American martial artist/jazz saxophonist with a jaded past. Everywhere Ken goes, he gets into a fight...with his saxophone. Whether he is jamming the sax into someone's gut or throwing it across the room at someone's face, Ken is sure to do unforeseen damage every time. As Ken's past catches up with him, he is thrown into a world of corporate secrets and government corruption. What's Ken gonna' do? Team Structure Me - writer, designer, programmer, music composer and sound fx Talent Needed 1 Artist - (comic book drawing), must be able to draw in medium-large format and scan individual drawings into computer; will consider drawing directly in software program. Must be willing to commit to the project for at least one full year with consistent updates and drawing submissions. Compensation I can guarantee a lump sum upon completion of the demo. I am willing to draw up a document offering a partnership in return for a commitment to stay with the project until completion. This WILL be marketed as both a game app and a comic app with the aim to make a nice profit. As of right now, the entire story for part 1 has been outlined. Chapter One has been completed scripted, and development on Construct 2 has been underway for about a month. The current plan is to release the first chapter by the end of 2012 as a free download to demo the entire project and gain publicity. Donations will be asked to help fund the remainder of the comic and to pay off the software license for Construct 2. To see a work-in-progress of the first chapter go to the comic link below (note, you must be using the latest version of each browser in order to support HTML5). Menu and pause buttons appear by clicking the black bar at the top; you may also pause the comic by clicking anywhere on the comic. /comic Technology Target systems: PC/Mac (browsers), tablet/portable devices (downloadable HTML5 app) Programming language: HTML5 Software: Construct 2 Website my site: comic demo: /comic Please provide samples of your work, including some emotional and high-paced action examples. I am taking this project very seriously and you should too. ------------------------------------------ Added 14 JUL 2012, 15:06 PM EDT $150 would be for drawing the demo, which covers about 11 script pages. The format of my comic will not be done in pages. It will be in layouts, or slides. The dimension of each slide is 16" x 9" (standard widescreen). Main layouts (establishing shots, important action scenes, etc.) will be the full size. However, most of the panels do not need to be that size; they can be any size and fit together on the screen to make it look more like a comic book. In other words, at any given moment there could be a 16" x 9" panel with a few 3" x 5" panels. In the demo, there are only about 5 or 6 layouts that need to be drawn in full size. Does this make sense? once the demo is completed, I will be asking for donations to fund the rest of the comic. From then on (should you decide to stay with the project), you will receive 35% of the total money earned through donations and from distribution of the final product. If the project sells 1000 downloads or login keys at $0.99 each, you make $350. If it sells 5000, you make $1750...etc. Keywords: Cartoons & Comics
