White Box Engineer | Contract
Terms: Long-Term Contract Location: Mill Valley, CA (5 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge) Target Start Date: Immediately Company Size: 150+ at this location Industry: Cable/Internet/Communication **NATIONAL VISIBILITY FOR YOUR WORK** Our client is an interactive TV and video platform development company located in Mill Valley, just north of the Golden Gate bridge, with panoramic views of Mount Tamalpais and Marin County. As an Automation Engineer, you will be working on the toughest challenges in their highly parallel enterprise-grade server software, alongside brilliant engineers who will help you push your engineering skills to their limits. The applications must scale to support over 22 million cable customers, more than 16 million high-speed Internet customers, and over 8 million voice customers: are you up to the challenge? You will be working on software that allows millions of cable subscribers to enjoy features such as VOD (Video On Demand), on-screen Caller ID and interactive TV applications. On rare occasions you may be called upon to work nights and/or weekends to help resolve high priority issues with production systems. Duties/Responsibilities: Development of automated functional, component, performance and system test cases Identify product deficiencies and defects, logging bugs on software as appropriate Interact with other cross-functional teams within the company Create test plans for manual and automated testing Knowledge/Experience/Education Required: 5+ years of Java/C/C++ programming experience 5+ year of experience with scripting tools/languages that can be used for developing automation tests Strong experience working in a Linux/Unix environment Experience working with JBoss, Tomcat or other application server software Knowledge/Experience/Education Desired: Solid understanding of software development processes in Agile development Understanding of build tools such as Maven or Ant Experience writing CUnit/JUnit/HtmlUnit/Selenium test cases BS or higher degree in Comp Sci or related discipline Even if this opportunity is not an exact fit, please reach out to David Blaker at (415)343-6049 or send your updated resume to dblaker(at)teksystems.com.
