POSITION OPEN AS OF JULY 16. A large International company, located in Torrance, is seeking an Oracle DBA for a long term contract role. The DBA must have some Netezza experience. This Database Administrator position is needed to play a key role delivering hands-on implementation of Netezza and Oracle database solutions that are reusable, extensible and sustainable. The position will ensures that Netezza and Oracle database implementations are consistent with enterprise architecture standards; and supports the deployment of both transactional and analytical environments. This role will also support Netezza and Oracle based application delivery and operations teams throughout the database management lifecycle from design and development consulting to troubleshooting. Mandatory Skills Required: - 5+ Years of experience as a Database Administrator on Oracle 10 & 11. - Some Netezza experience is required. - Experience in developing/documenting analysis, scoping and estimations for projects based on requirements. - Experience in developing/documenting installation, upgrade and configuration strategies of databases in high available environments. - Experience in developing/documenting backup and restore, disaster recovery, database replication, partitioning, clustering strategies. - Experience in developing/documenting encryption, security, auditing strategies. - Working understanding of application integration and service oriented architectures. - Experience in data modeling, both logical and physical using ERwin and/or Visio. - Experience with large installations, ideally in a financial services organization. - Team-oriented work ethic with the ability to work independently. - Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced setting. - Strong organization and time management skills. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Strong problem solving skills. Pluses - Hands-on experience with SQL Server 2008 R2. - Hands-on experience with RHEL. - Hands-on experience with VMWare. - Understanding of Symantec NetBackup Solutions. - Understanding of Veritas clustering solutions. - Understanding of SAN and NAS solutions.
