Project Manager
Immedate 12+ month need in New Haven, CT for a Project Manager. Our client is looking to find someone who has a background in finance with budgeting tools (currently they are using Axiom). Project management experience with large enterprise implementations such as Oracle, PeopleSoft or SAP. 1. Independently manage multiple complex, high risk, strategic IT programs, projects and process improvements for a variety of clients. 2. Responsible for all aspects of the management of highly complex multi-year programs (groups of projects) providing a single point of contact for the programs business and IT stakeholders. 3. Manage stakeholder expectations throughout all phases of a project by using appropriate project management methods that effectively address concerns of senior management, functional owners and staff involved in the affected business processes. 4. Build relationships with assigned clients, develop an in depth understanding of assigned clients operations and processes and advise on and facilitate the development of process improvements and supporting IT infrastructure. 5. Develop ROM project budget estimates for periodic project evaluations and budget discussions. 6. Ensure projects achieve stated success criteria. 7. Direct responsibility for the creation, execution and implementation of complex, detailed project plans in concert with internal and external stakeholders, observing and refining project plans, scopes and budgets, and ensuring the development and management of communication, risk management and quality plans. 8. Create appropriate resource plans, work breakdown structures, schedules, budgets and controls to promote on-time, on-budget completion of project deliverables. 9. Follow and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Yale SDLC Methodology. 10. Ensure project deliverables comply with Universities policies, FERPA, HIPAA and any other applicable laws and regulations 11. Achieve 80% or higher on Budget, Schedule, Benefit delivery, Quality and Client Satisfaction on PMO surveys. 12. Mentor PM II and PM I staff. General skills and abilities: 1. Proven ability to see the big picture and to help customers build out strategy prior to identifying project objectives. 2. Extensive stakeholder management experience involving senior and executive level Clients from diverse areas. 3. Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, lead, and execute multiple, complex programs and projects. 4. Project management experience with large enterprise implementations such as Oracle, PeopleSoft or SAP. 5. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with project-related ambiguity and create clarity with sponsors and stakeholders with diverse views and opinions. 6. Ability to estimate complex projects, develop compelling business cases and create complete and accurate financial analyses. 7. Excellent collaboration, facilitation and problem solving skills. Excellent ability to lead change by partnering with diverse sets of stakeholders and colleagues to affect a common outcome. 8. Superior customer service orientation and initiative. The ability to build strong relationships and establish credibility as a trusted advisor and work in concert with multiple organizations to accomplish goals and objectives. 9. The ability to translate business needs into business/functional requirements and to formulate action plans in an organized fashion. 10. Advanced experience as an enthusiastic, motivating leader that will bring out the best in the team, while understanding and acting on strengths and weaknesses within the team. 11. Demonstration of successful use of a standard project management methodology and understanding of standard SDLC processes (PMBOK, etc.) 12. Demonstrated ability to lead effectively in a matrix environment. A critical component of this is the ability to influence resources to adhere to work plans where there are competing priorities and little formal authority over those resources. 13. Experience training/mentoring others in project management skills and SDLC; helping less experienced team members understand the value in the process and structure 14. Ability to effectively employ industry-recognized software tools for professional project management and business analysis.
