Child Care Site Supervisor
GENERAL FUNCTION: This is a temporary to possible permanent and benefited position under the supervision of the Program Director, the Site Supervisor is responsible for all daily operations of one before and after school childcare site, to include but not limited to, program development and implementation, staff and participant supervision, safety, and Title XXII/ ACA compliance. The Site Supervisor must follow and operate the site under the policies and philosophies of the Mission Statement of the Channel Islands YMCA. QUALIFICATIONS: · Must be 21 years of Age · Current 1 st Aid Certification & CPR Certification · 12 ECE /CD units (3 units must be in Administration) · Knowledge of Title XXII requirements · Computer savvy · Must be a sensitive and mature individual, able to relate well with both adults and youth · Ability to communicate effectively with youth & adult members, staff, and supervisor · Participation in ongoing child care seminars and Child Abuse Prevention trainings · Minimum 1 year working with youth and ability to relate and care for a diverse group of children and their parents PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES : · Ensure the health and safety of the staff and children at all times · Maintain Title XXII regulations and make available appropriate documents · Enforce & model facility safety policies & procedures · Assist in program marketing · Staff will maintain a positive, nurturing attitude with the other staff, children and parents · Complete any other task as assigned by the supervisor PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES: · Plan, supervise, and implement program activities in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Channel Islands YMCA · Supervise, train, and evaluate all staff at the site · Enforce & model the discipline policy of the YMCA · Communicate with school staff regarding any program changes or facility needs · Control and inspect all equipment (supervise proper usage, inspect for safety) · Clean & maintain all program supplies and organize activity areas · Attend all staff meetings as required by the YMCA and Program Director · Organize and implement an active Parent Advisory Committee · Maintain a positive attitude and respect toward all participants, parents, and staff · Maintain an effective open line of communication with participants, parents, and staff · Inform & document necessary situations involving behavior or emergency situations with parents & supervisor · Staff site according Licensing Requirements · Actively build relationships and connections with and among members by using members’ names and engaging members in conversation. · Actively listen in relationship building conversations and while checking on members’ progress. · Help facilitate community building by introducing members to other staff and, when appropriate, to other members. · Be aware of your regular members and welcome them back if they have been away. · If a regular member stops coming without explanation notify your supervisor to discuss the best way to follow up with the member.
