Joining an existing software development team, this 12 month contract will see a specialist engineer/developer or programmer manage the porting of operating systems and transfer of developing systems. MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB : Responsible for porting a c/c++ solution from Windows/Solaris to CentOS. Implements component tests and carries out test runs. Current installation, done using InstallAnywhere, but manage the move towards a solution with utilizes RPM package manager Investigation and resolution (where necessary) of issues. Collaborate with other developers, QA and other parties to ensure high quality software. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED : Solid Programming experience with C++ programming language Excellent knowledge and working experience of development (design, building, testing, debugging etc) C++ applications on Linux operating systems (CentOS), using development lifecycle supporting tool/technologies including Perforce, Jira , Teamcity or equivalent. Good knowledge and ideally working experience of developing for Windows and Solaris platforms. Ideally experience with build systems such as Jam and make on Solaris. Ability to deliver using InstallAnywhere and RPM package manager Excellent hands-on knowledge of those best practices used on a day-to-day basis. Familiar with relevant industry standards and trends Good Knowledge of security technology and systems. Displays energy and initiative in solving problems.
