I'm trying organise like minded people who want to bring some pleasure into children's lives. The idea I had was to make my two children's books available in languages that are not commercially attractive. It is hard to imagine but some children have no books in their own language they can read or are ever read to them. So... I've been working hard to do this. The books are written. They are professionally and beautifully illustrated. They are available on amazon (search for downie and tea). Lots of people have agreed to translate into their native tongue, in many but not all cases at a low cost. At the moment, I am managing (and paying for) the translation and layout of 2 books into 36 languages and counting. Each will be available on Amazon in print and (if permitted) kindle format. But how to make sure the children can really access them? I have set my royalty to nothing (as far as I can) on the books, but they still cost money to buy. I can give away the eBooks if Amazon doesn't stop me. But the real way to reach them, I think, is to have someone read the books to them, and have the book and the illustrations and text keep up with the voice. All in their own language. Just like mum or dad were reading to them. On YouTube. So that's the dream. I already have three superstars who have put their hand up for the voice over (American English Female, Japanese Female, Polish Female - looks like the ladies have the biggest hearts). There is a real difference between a professional read over person with the right equipment and an amateur - like light and day, so I am trying to find the right people who would find this process something they would like to be part of. If someone wants to do it then why not upload it if it brings pleasure into someone's life for free. With words. I will keep more languages trickling in while I am still able to find people with the skills and interest and I am able to finance that and the layout book for each book.
