Our client is currently seeking a Manager, SQL/Oracle DBA. This position is responsible for the day-to-day tasks of maintaining and supporting Microsoft SQL Server performance and operation for 20+ Windows Servers running SQL MSDE, SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005, SQL Clusters and Oracle Servers. Main Duties: Responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining all aspects of the databases Implements, configures and troubleshoots database instances, replication, backups, partitions, and storage Monitors and optimizes system performance using index tuning, disk optimization and other methods Plans, coordinates, implements and enforces security measures to safeguard computer databases Researches and installs SQL and Oracle Server patches, troubleshoots connectivity, documents, creates queries as needed, and any other functions required to maintain the LHUO varied SQL and Oracle Server operation Applies proven communication skills and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the user group on issues related to the selection, budgeting, design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems Works closely with the Applications Manager and Network Manager to ensure maximum application/server uptime Basic Qualifications; 10+ years as an IT professional with 5+ years as an SQL DBA and 1 to 2 years of Oracle experience to include monitoring database servers and associated O/S performance, creation and maintenance of backup jobs, monitoring server disk space, monitoring and maintaining SQL/Oracle Server security, troubleshooting SQL/Oracle Server issues to resolution or escalation internally or externally to vendor as appropriate, creation and maintenance of queries as needed Ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, working with appropriate vendors for resolution as required Thorough knowledge and understanding of computer software to include Windows 2000/XP, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and TCP/IP connectivity Experience creating and documenting trouble tickets along with the resolution Excellent communication and customer service skills highly desired Ability to occasionally lift weights of up to 30 pounds Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
