Accountant
Job Description: Accountant RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • Work with business units, the legal department and corporate accounting management to research, develop, document and communicate policies and processes for revenue recognition in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. • Review contracts and other documents to determine revenue recognition policies and processes and to identify all revenue recognition issues. • Continually educate business group finance and operations personnel about the company’s revenue recognition policies and procedures. • Assist with the monthly close process including recording journal entries and account analysis. Assist in the preparation of the periodic preparation of external financial statements on Form 10-Q and Form 10K. • Monitor compliance of revenue recognition policies and practices through the review of certain account reconciliations and other financial information. • Research, develop, document and communicate policies for new accounting regulations and assist with other accounting projects as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. A CPA would be a plus. • A minimum of 3-5 years corporate accounting and/or public accounting experience. • Working knowledge revenue recognition-related accounting pronouncements. • Experience reviewing and interpreting contracts to ensure compliance with GAAP. Experience with Software, multiple element or other non-routine revenue recognition issues, a plus. • Ability to review and analyze contractual transactions. • Strong analytical, attention to detail and reconciliation skills. • Ability to work as a member of a team and work independently. • Self motivated individual with ability to research issues and present solutions to management. • Excellent organizational skills; able to prioritize appropriately and meet deadlines. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to perform highly disciplined tasks in a rapidly changing and fast paced work environment. • Proven ability to foster proactive working relationships with cross-functional organizations within the company (Legal, Sales, Operations and Accounting) and outside the organization (customers and external auditors), so that accounting requirements are met and business objectives are optimized. • Experience with Excel and Word a must. General ledger system and consolidation system skills, a plus.
