This is probably a fairly quick and easy job for a real Magento expert... Please do not respond unless you have experience working with Magento themes and upgrades. I am currently running my site with version 1.4.1.1 of Magento (Community Edition) and I want to upgrade to the latest version. Here is the website: The issue is that the site uses customised theme templates, but it seems that the previous developer has edited some of the base/default theme files rather than creating custom theme templates, so I'm concerned that if I simply upgrade Magento, that it will overwrite the custom files with new "base" theme templates (in both the "APP" and "SKIN" folders). I assume there's an easy way of duplicating files into a custom-theme folder, rather than having them in the base/default folder, but I'm not an expert so I'm concerned that I will "break" it.
