Job Title:- OSS Director Job Description:- The Director of Operational Support Systems (OSS) will be responsible for supporting the development staff in adding strategic value to the Client’s OSS systems. This individual will provide leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of OSS tool suite at the Client. The OSS tool suit portfolio includes Fault, Performance, Configuration, Application, and Service management systems supporting our NOC, engineering, and back-office Ops. Selected candidate will play an active role in developing inter-departmental relationships while enhancing the end user experience through facilitation of detailed requirements. Further, he/she will be expected to provide, support, and active participation in Operation Support Process development reviews, change management programs, vendor escalations/liaison/management, operational monthly and quarterly reviews. Major Duties & Responsibilities This position will help ensure the operational support systems meet the Client’s customer services expectations through proactive management and delivery of agreed to programs and operation support system solutions. The incumbent will be responsible for partnering across engineering and operations teams at the national center and across Client Division teams to support product evaluations, identification of new programs, and manage the tool suite and compliance areas through performance data and delivery of business requirements that enhance systems and tools. This position reports to the VP of Enterprise Solutions & Ops. Qualifications • 8+ years of relevant experience with progressive levels of responsibility • Experience leading cross-functional/matrix project teams in the successful completion of assigned deliverables • Proven hands-on leader having directly managed 10+ person teams • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills • Must have the ability to communicate complex technical details • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills • Effective skills at influencing and driving organizational change • Knowledge of OSS/BSS architectures a plus & Cable/Telecommunications experience preferred • Experience with producing business cases & and UML & Use Case modeling experience • Methodology experience: Rational Unified Process (RUP), Extreme Programming (XP), Waterfall, Agile • Ability to grasp new technology quickly • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Technical knowledge of Hybrid Fiber Coax cable plant technologies and equipment including DOCSIS CMTS and CMs, video transmission equipment and STBs, and Packet Cable telephony. • Technical knowledge of SNMP, HTTP, SOAP, IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, and similar network management related protocols. • Technical knowledge of XML, JDBC/ODBC, SQL, Java, perl, shell, and similar network management related languages. • Technical knowledge of database engines such as Oracle, Sybase, MySql, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar. • Technical knowledge of Solaris, HP-UX, Linux, and Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista computer operating systems • Good understanding of Service/Network quality assurance solution domains. • Balances and prioritizes activities to ensure critical items are addressed. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong understanding of customer and network operations in the Video, Internet and Voice services environment. Selected candidate will be able to provide: • Demonstrated experience developing, deploying, and implementing a commercial enterprise network management system such as CA Spectrum, IBM Net cool, CA UniCenter, EMC SMARTS, HP Open view, or similar. • Demonstrated experience developing, deploying, and implementing a commercial enterprise performance and capacity monitoring system such as Alcatel-Lucent Vital Suite, CA health, Savona, IBM Proviso, Info vista, or similar. • Demonstrated experience developing, deploying, and implementing a network design, assign, and inventory systems such as Visional, Metasolv, Cramer, Nutcracker, BT Net control, Openet, or similar. • Demonstrated experience developing, deploying, and implementing open source network management systems such as Zenoss, Zabbix, Torrus, Weathermap, MRTG/RRDB, Cricket, Cacti, Nagios, and similar. • Demonstrated experience developing system integration and automation capability to improve operational response time and accuracy in diagnosing and resolving network issues. • Demonstrated ability to direct development, deployment, and implementation teams to deliver Operational Support Systems capability to network operations. • Demonstrated ability to evaluate system efficacy, develop system performance metrics, and drive continual process improvement of network management systems • Demonstrated ability to create specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely career development plans for implementation through the OSS department Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
