Data Warehouse ETL Developer
Two location for this position (1) San Diego, CA (2) Lansdale, PA. Consultant must be comfortable with any one location. Responsibilities: •Provide database administration, management, enhancement and modification services as prioritized by the customer for the application databases to include Oracle and SQL Server •Monitor log files to identify trends and anomalies •Conduct program updates, perform database backups, and restore files as needed •Maintain and create data schemas •Perform database and application tuning and performance monitoring to optimize performance of the databases and application codes •Ensure system enhancements are coordinated for compatibility with data warehouse, source systems, and DON IT policies and instruction •Maintain and develop interactive application webpage templates and content for Section 508 compliance and ensure system web pages comply with current DoD Web policy and standards •Support data cleansing, validate and check field data, and identify discrepancies to appropriate personnel •Communicate issues, updates, and results to teams and management •Perform system modifications and maintenance in support of emergent system change requests and defects as required to address immediate client needs •Assure databases and all systems produced reports, briefings, and other materials contain correct, accessible, and appropriate data or information •Perform user operational and technical support •Support request for OLAP/ad-hoc reporting and provide clarification of output from OLAP/ad-hoc reporting results •Coordinate with hosting server/network administrators to resolve technical issues •Perform system broadcasting messages/updates related to scheduled system maintenance or unplanned system downtime, application system updates, or technical issues •Produce database extracts and summaries for reporting to other organizations and data systems •Provide user account creation support •Perform data analysis and optimization support by providing fully researched and timely insights and recommendations to ensure the datasets are fully utilized and the system’s capabilities are maximized •Perform training support to maximize the application user community’s ability on system capabilities and positively impact a favorable, productive user experience •Provide first level help desk functions assisting system users to research and resolve application or user problems •Provide semi-annual operational training support associated with the application systems functionality, new capabilities and/or new system features •Execute and monitor the ETL system •Improve or enhance system ETL functions through identification or change request or new requirements in the system •Manage continuous transition from codes-based sources of data to process-based ETL data •Coordinate with data source systems organizational representatives to optimize data transfer logistics •Monitor FTP jobs and executions, data refreshes, and other jobs •Provide analytical support to gather and evaluate customer requirements •Provide BI system administration in support of existing BI software installation and upgrades, configuration, data integration, and data management •Maintain and develop BI portal content presentation, management, and administration •Manage BI user groups and roles to secure BI environment and content •Design, develop, implement, maintain reports, metrics, and dashboards •Provide recommendations on the system’s ability to satisfy the requirement, provide additional data, design data stores or create business objects to satisfy customer requirements •Design and implement decision support reporting tools for query and reporting, analysis, statistics, forecasting and data mining activities •Develop various standard reports/ dashboards/ balance scorecards/ metrics as requested with BI tool •Responsible for developing and maintaining detailed system documentation, system requirements, system design documents, user documentation, metadata, help files, and technical documentation •Engage with COTS vendors (Oracle, IBM-Cognos, Microsoft) to resolve new and outstanding issues regarding software •Perform System Security Certification and Accreditation (C&A) support •Assist server/network administrators with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) procedures, application Security Readiness Review (SRRs), perform Gold Disks system security scans for compliance reporting and risk mitigation and remediation efforts. •Provide C&A documentation development support •Assist in C&A reviews Qualifications: •Must have 7+ years of experience working as a Cognos Developer with strong knowledge in SSIS, ETL and data warehouse concepts •Must have experience in the following areas: •Creating and maintaining Cognos packages in Framework Manager. •Designing the production rollout process for Cognos applications. •Promoting packages to Production using Import/Export utility. •Creating and maintenance of Cognos jobs. •Creating, refreshing and supporting Cognos Transformer models and cubes to support timely operations. •Performing Cognos administrative functions such as creating user accounts, user classes and roles using Access Manager. •Building and maintaining Cognos reporting security •Database ETL warehousing and implementation •ETL and Data Modeling COGNOS Framework Manager. •Developing Cognos 3 tier models using COGNOS FM for reporting purposes •Developing and executing SQL code to meet business requirements for data extracts in MS SQL 2008 •Develop new models for Enterprise Data Warehouse and Reporting tools. •Create databases, database objects (schemas, indexes, triggers, etc) •SSIS 2005/2008 ETL development and maintenance on the DEV and PROD servers •SSIS 2005 DTSX updates and conversions from DTS packages •Using ORACLE 11G database for systems using ORACLE SQL Developer interface. •Strong proficiency with relational data models Extensive experience with design and implementation of enterprise data warehouses on Microsoft SQL Server platform (design considerations, star schemas, logical/physical design of relational and dimensional databases, Kimball methodology) Experience implementing the Cognos Business Intelligence v8.3+ platform, including Cognos Framework Manager design, Report Studio 8, Power Cube, Transformer •Strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving abilities; •Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Other Requirement: •Experience in working on Government sector projects is a plus •Require minimum 3 good past performance references •Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government issued Common Access Card (CAC), Background checks are required.
