Key Objectives: � Project management of technical transmission projects. Typical projects will include network expansion, implementation, upgrades and optimisation across DWDM, SDH, ATM, Ethernet and IP networks. � Production of detailed technical designs across all existing transmission platforms including DWDM, SDH, ATM, Ethernet and IP networks � Customer and vendor intearction. Closely supervise and manage all transmission vendors to ensure the quality of installations meet the required network standards. � Sales Support. Working with existing and new customers to gather and analyse their transmission requirements. Producing detailed project plans and project scopes to be presented back to the customer for approval and sign off. Responsibilities: � Attend customer requirement meetings. � Provide technical review and analysis of customer transmission requirements. � Perform principle design work and planning to meet initial project approvals. � Provide input into detailed project planning including budgets and resource requirements. � Perform detailed technical design work and produce detailed costing of all aspects of a transmission solution. � Work with the vendors to verify technical designs and confirm installation requirements. � Specify and perform verification testing (type approval) of vendor equipment. � Support the project team to manage the implementation of approved projects. � Provide weekly project updates and adhere to the internal project milestones, processes and approval methodologies. � Manage and supervise all vendor installations to ensure existing build standards are maintained. � Review and approve vendor project plans and support implementation of that plan. � Provide onsite supervision of vendor installation and commissioning team(s). � Work with operations teams manage the integration of new equipment into the network. � Manage and meet all requirements of the Transfer To Operations process for newly installed equipment. � Review and accept vendor documentation and notify Transmission Manager when complete for contractual acceptance. Operational Experience: � In depth working knowledge of SDH, DWDM, ATM, Ethernet, IP transport technologies. � In depth knowledge of optical fibre standards, working and testing practises. � Knowledge of project management in a SDH/DWDM implementation environment. � A good working knowledge of the required industry standards for the installation of transmission equipment. � Degree, HND or equivalent experience
