The PayPal Merchant Technical Support Engineer (MTSE) will be responsible for providing technical support to merchants and developers using PayPal products and systems serving as a knowledgeable resource to provide technical solutions. Provide guidance and direction with issues and use of PayPal's systems and services. MTSE also provides important feedback to internal groups that produce tools and features. 1. Installation and setup of payment interfaces, APIs, and commerce products, while working directly with developers, merchant and internal teams on post integration issues to provide technical support, consulting and best practices. 2. Identify, troubleshoot run test scenarios for technical issues with PayPal code, software, hardware, devices and endpoints, communicate fixes or workarounds for an issue. 3. Communicate issues to PayPal merchants and to other PayPal departments. 4. Identifies, verify and documents irregularities in functionality, including posting appropriate unexpected behaviors. 5. Manage bug process when appropriate (i.e., Discover, log, and, follow up on bugs and communicate when fixed). 6. Generates and reviews in-depth technical information (Sample code, white papers, FAQs, Snippets) for distribution to PayPal merchants. 7. Create and run demos of PayPal commerce functionality. 8. Give presentations to audiences of varying sizes. 9. Attend meeting and take on leader role as point of contact or stakeholder for projects. 10. Participates in the development of tools, systems and processes aimed at improving product supportability or overall support productivity. 11. Advises management and appropriate groups on support issues which impact customer satisfaction and provide recommendations for appropriate actions. 12. On-Call coverage for escalations and critical issues. Education/Experience: 1. BS, BSEE, CS or other relevant technical degree required. 2. Strong English written and verbal communication skills, ability to type fluently 3. Proficient in: (able to provide elementary coding examples with no resources) a. one or more of the following required: Java, C, C++, C# b. web technologies including XML, SOAP, API, HTML c. creating Structured Query Language statement using all of the following i. Select ii. Delete iii. Insert iv. Update v. Join (inner v outer) d. Firewalls, proxy, HTTP Errors, server side errors, TCP/IP 4. Experience with: (able to provide complex examples with resources quickly) a. one or more of the following required: PHP, ASP, ColdFusion, Perl, Ruby, Python, VB/VB.NET b. Windows command line (DOS) interface c. Linux/Unix command line interface d. Supporting high-availability applications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1.
