We are starting an online booking portal for shipping and global transportation of freight, much similar to online booking agents in the airline ticketing industry. A user of our website is able to submit shipping requirements (such as cargo, origin/destination, timing, etc.), and in return, the portal will display all relevant options offered by associated freight forwarders. Once the customer has decided on the preferred shipping solution, they can complete a booking and payment directly on the website. When the booking is completed, the delivery of the freight service is between the customer and the freight forwarder, and we do not have a role in that. We are registered in Hong Kong, our freight forwarders and customers are registered globally. Job description: We are looking for an International Accountant who can prepare advice on how to handle VAT. Ideally, you have experience with online sales as well as freight forwarding. There are multiple scenarios which needs analysis, including customers and subcontractors located in different regions, within/outside VAT countries, etc. The final outcome should be a document detailing legal requirements in all relevant scenarios including references to legal sources, as well as a VAT policy which can be uploaded to our website describing to customers and subcontractors how we deal with VAT.
