SUMMARY: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Communicates directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas. Communicates directly with QA laboratory to ensure effective participation by the maintenance technicians in the implementation of QA policies and procedures. Implements programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness. Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians. Ensures that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures. Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems. Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate & solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement. Maintains and repairs maintenance shop equipment. Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems. Supervises plant maintenance personnel. Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. Communicates regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues. Assists with hiring of maintenance personnel. Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs. Tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc. Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times. Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians. Coordinates activities with Plant Operations Departments. Participate in objective setting, plan development and performance review of plant performance. Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary. Assisting maintenance technicians and operations personnel in repairs and upgrades. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Two to five years related experience or equivalent. Knowledge of power transmission components, pneumatics, electrical controls, and industrial maintenance. Knowledge of safety procedures such as lockout / tagout. Ability to work at heights and in inclement weather. Proficient on Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook (email) Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings. Experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting preferred Working knowledge of PLC systems and programming preferred Strong interpersonal skills. Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance. Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions Ability to perform the physical labor necessary Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace (English). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following: Lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance. Wear appropriate safety equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: A large percentage of work time is spent in a warehouse where temperatures vary depending on the season.
