Technical Support Engineer 1
Description Technical Support Engineer – Process & Pipeline Services (PPS) Are you an ambitious engineer, keen to work with innovative technology? If you have or expect a four year degree in an engineering discipline (preferably mechanical, chemical, electrical or petroleum), here’s an opportunity to learn and develop your skills with Baker Hughes, one of the world’s leading oilfield service companies. Join us as a Technical Support Engineer and you’ll enjoy huge variety, including an interesting mix of office-based and field operations work, which could see you working in challenging and harsh conditions, on a rig in the North Sea, or in the desert in West Africa. We expect graduate engineers to become the engineering managers of the future, so you’ll participate in a structured two-year training programme that will prepare you to take on ever greater levels of responsibility. You will learn about equipment specification, preparation and pre-engineering as well as documentation, procedures, financial fundamentals, commercial sales, quality, safety, logistics, commissioning and project management. Working within the Baker Hughes Industrial Service Portfolio Process & Pipeline Services (PPS) product line, you will be exposed to multiple aspects of the business, with learning activities directly linked to the knowledge and requirements necessary for your job. Ongoing support will include a mentor to help guide you through the programme. We operate in more than 80 countries around the world, so you will have the chance to build a rewarding international career, with the potential to work overseas, possibly even during your training period. The business language in Baker Hughes is English, so you will need to be fluent, with excellent oral and written communication skills. You will also need to be flexible, able to work under pressure and adapt easily to changing circumstances and priorities. You will be equally capable of working autonomously or as part of a close-knit team. Current opportunities are for Technical Support Engineers based in the UK and Holland. Only those with the right to work in these countries should apply. About Baker Hughes Process & Pipeline Services (PPS) Companies operating offshore oil and gas platforms, refineries, petrochemical plants, gas processing plants, LNG facilities, and power plants need expertise to help them improve efficiency and reduce downtime with precommissioning, commissioning and turnaround maintenance of their pipeline systems and process plants. Over the past 40 years, Baker Hughes PPS engineers have delivered these essential services, introducing many ground-breaking techniques to the industry: nitrogen/helium leak testing, foam inerting and, more recently, hybrid cooldown technology for process plants.
