Job Description: Our customer, a leader in the financial industry with locations from coast to coast, is searching for Underwriter/Auditor. This Underwriter/Auditor position is a contract position. This is a global Fortune 100 Company, and a foot in the door has the possibility to open additional opportunities. Position Details: Position: Undewriter/Auditor II Location: Concord, CA Hours: 8:15am - 5:15pm Pay Rates: Competitive Contract Pay Rates PLUS benefits Length: 6 month contract (potential contract to hire) Position Details: Assignment Expectations: Meet daily quota of 3.5 appeals per day; excellent writing ability and communication is essential Assignment Environment: Steady-pace; minimal phone coverage; significant analyzation Purpose: The Auditor role is a complex role that requires a detail manual underwriter. This purpose of this position is to respond to mortgage insurance claim denials; appealing to have insurance coverage put back on the loan Candidates must have the manual underwriting background and some audit experience; candidates with underwriting background alone will not acclimate to this role. Candidates must be able to work within a constant changing environment. Responsibilities: *Analyzing and responding to claims of a breach of representations and warranties of the Bank�s residential mortgage contracts for all counter parties, including GSE�s & other government entities, private investors, bond insurers, and mortgage insurers, and asserting claims against counterparties who sold residential mortgages to the Bank where the Bank believes they have breached the representations and warranties of the contracts (�R&W claims�) *Assesses the credibility and accuracy of evidence provided in support of the R&W claim. *Provides written appeals in those instances where the allegation does not meet the requirements of a breach of the respective mortgage contracts. *Reviews individual mortgage origination/post origination documentation and performs database research to obtain information needed to analyze the claim. *May be asked to assess if the loan was originated consistent with applicable underwriting practices and loan program guidelines. *Assesses whether an alleged breach is material when applicable under the terms of the respective mortgage contracts. *Analyzes origination documents and determines whether any inconsistencies may be indicative of potential mortgage fraud. *Recalculates the numeric loan parameters where applicable to the allegation of a breach. Required Skills: *Must have a background in residential mortgage loan underwriting, compliance, forensic underwriting, mortgage loan repurchases, quality control audit reviews or loan origination. *5-7 years experience with a mortgage bank, brokerage or related financial institution. *Experience with manual residential mortgage underwriting techniques beyond reliance on automated underwriting systems and a firm understanding of loan program guidelines. *Familiarity with DU, LP and other AUS systems. *Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to demonstrate proficiency in developing and articulating persuasive arguments. *Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and databases. IDEAL CANDIDATE: Extroverted, flexible personality, team player that can also work independently, previous legal experience is a plus but must have Underwriting experience Candidates must have solid underwriting experience, not merely a processing and/or mortgage sales background.
